Happy New Year Y'all!

Happy New Year Readers!

I hope the first few days of 2013 have been more eventful than ours. We have been down in the dumps sick with fevers and coughs that just keep hanging on. Luckily being sick makes you feel especially grateful for the times when you are well. This year the hubs and I have decided to share some of our resolutions or "commitments" for 2013 with you. My thinking is y'all can keep me on track and maybe it will help us to keep them in the forfront of our minds so they aren't forgotten by February.

Here's the list-

1. Spend more quality and quantity time together.

We have been so busy this year with different jobs and trips that it has been like we are ships passing in the night sometimes. With the NFL and UFL moving the hubs around the country we haven't been able to have a ton of real life face time but 2013 is looking like we will have a chance to spend most of it together so it's definitely going on the top of our list!

2. Take the slobber machines out on more walks.

We are a relatively active bunch in the spring and summer months but when its cold out we turn into hermits and cozy up around a heater which can make the slobber machines antsy so to curb the restlessness and maintain my sanity we are going on more excursions to explore.

3. Attend the Temple once a month.

If y'all didn't know I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or as many know us as Mormons. As Church members we are able to go to some of our temples to learn and grow. If you want to know more about what I believe click here.

4. Do a 5 minute "sweep" of every room before bed.

I heard about the idea of room "sweeping" during a class when I was in college. The idea is to pick up an empty laundry basket and go into each room of your house and do a "sweep" with your eyes for things that do not belong in that room. Whatever items that are misplaced go into you basket and are then put back before you go to sleep so you take 30 minutes or so to replace lost items in your home. Hopefully doing this consistently will help to keep the home in order.

5. No dirty dishes are left in the sink at night
Basically, old dirty dishes well really dirty dishes in general give me the skivvies. Thus I am trying to stop them in their tracks and make sure that all of the dishes are cleaned off and rinsed prior to being in our sink.

6. Read the scriptures as a couple at least 3 times a week
In my faith we read books of scriptures that you can learn more about here.

7. Save more spend less
I believe this is pretty self explanatory.

8. Continue to grow as people.
I feel like as people we often forget and more regularly shy away from doing things that challenge and teach us to rather sit in our favorable rut. I was this was until I married the Hubs and in an effort to have more things in common I started to try new things that were completely out of my comfort zone. I can now say that I love sushi, Thai food, and can enjoy more sporting events etc.

9. Say at least one prayer together a day.
I used to think that the family that prays together stays together was really weird but lately I have been thinking things are a saying for a reason right? So it can't hurt to try it out.

10. Read more books.
I love books and in college I used to say I can't wait until I can read for pleasure and choose the books. I said that I would read all the time. Little did I know that real life it just as busy as college life and you have to make time

There you have it our top 10 resolutions. What are y'all's if you care to share...

Hey y'all I am Sara otherwise known as the Desperately Happy Housewife. When I am not working I am busy crafting, blogging and re-decorating my house. I channel Lucille Ball and Lauren Graham on a daily basis to get me through the "Oh my gosh I just sewed my finger" moments that often happen. I hope you stay a while and get a chance to see what makes me desperately happy.
